My daughter just got these as a birthday gift, and they are so adorable. However, man are they hard to color with! She spent an hour stacking and reorganizing them, but when we went to color with them you really need to press hard to get any sort of color to come out on the paper. The light colors are the worst! AS far as stacking goes, they are tons of fun, my daughter thinks that they are finger puppets too

I thought this would be the perfect gift for my budding 4 year old artist. Was I ever wrong! The nicest thing about this 'art' center is the case it comes in. The crayons and oil pastels have barely any color pigments- the oil pastels are almost entirely wax. The color pencils are not much better, and the water color tubes are hard to handle for small hands and don't yield better result than the inexpensive kids versions. The markers are okay, but they were not the selling point for me since young children need to experiment with color blending. She's going back to her REAL art supplies.

After visiting my local craft stores, I discovered it is much cheaper to buy all the materials in this box individually than to buy this kit. The materials contained in the kit are also lower quality than you'd find in a craft store, or even in the craft section of Walmart. The box is nicer than anything in it. The bracelets, for example, are made of flimsy felt. The activities are very simple, I would not recommend for older children (9-12 years is probably too old!) unless you are fine with 5-10 minute crafts. While this sounds like a horrible review - it is - my 11 yr old was not entirely displeased. She gave the finished crafts to her younger siblings as gifts.

Well, I read some of the other reviews about the chalkboard side of this easel and I should have listened. The dry erase and paint side are AWESOME. I set up the paints/markers in the morning and my daughter enjoys it all day long. As for the chalkboard side, I did what the directions said and more. I used several pieces of chalk and rubbed them horizontially and vertically all over the board, then erased it with a paper towel. I repeated this process 3 times and it's still difficult to write on the board. The board does not grab the chalk. I even used 2 different brands of chalk. I'm thinking about painting it with black chalkboard paint to see if that will work.

Less of a value than the paint spinner - Lara J. Henry -
I bought this because my son absolutely LOVES the paint spinner. This is the same basic plastic base with an adjustable size spinner wheel to hold the ceramic pieces. However, the ceramic pieces sit much higher in the spinner than the paper would - meanwhile the "splash shield" sits at the same height, leaving zero protection against the spraying paint. Also, the paint provided is in MUCH smaller and less user-friendly bottles than the paint spinner bottles. The ceramics supplied are cheap - to be expected - but VERY cheap, and the square plates which are supposed to be hung with a ribbon through pre-cut holes do not have holes. It comes with four square plates and four very small circular plates and then - it's done.

Stick with the original paint spinner and order some refills. This is not a valuable addition to the toy closet.

I purchased this for my 18 month old daughter to put in our RV. It would be a great product for an older toddler. My baby stood on it, sat on it, and really used it as a stepping stool. Hi,

My daughter received something similar as a gift and my son (10 years old who has autism) enjoyed it so much. I had a hard time finding it in the store so when I saw it on amazon I was very excited to order it. However when we received and tried to use I was very disappointed that you need to constantly have to "hand pump" in order to continue spinning. This presented difficulty for my son to the point all he did was pour the full bottle of paint on the paper (where when he used my daughters "spinner" appropriately and loved it). I am also very disappointed in the cost and the quality of the item> by far not worth .

My son asks for this every tubby... although he has never used as finger paints. He has drawn one or two lines on the wall, but it doesn't stick very well... so he just leaves it in the "hand" until it is time to wash up and then giggles as I pour it on him.

The sponge is nice and the paint washes off the tile and grout easily as long as you don't let it dry... Then it still comes off but takes more elbow grease.

The biggest problem is that you can't get refill paint. They have a refill set but it is only 3 colors.

This toy is hard to find; I think it is discontinued. I often see the non-electronic version though. The counter counts in 2s, so your kid will think there are no odd numbers in the worlds. Upon receipt of this item, I immediately opened it and checked out the contents to verify that it came with everything specified. I couldn't find the clips for the easel at first, but they were hidden beneath the ruler. The very first thing I noticed was the quality of the hinged closures and the hinges themselves. They are very low grade and I am definitely thinking about how long they will hold up. The second thing I noticed was that the easel is designed for use with letter size paper in the "landscape" direction. I should have paid closer attention to this, so I thought I'd make mention of it. Other than that, the few markers, oil pastels and colored pencils I tested worked great. My daughter won't get to use this until Christmas, and that's if it gets my husband's approval (which I am not so sure about)... For with free shipping, what can I say... you get what you pay for... it will definitely keep my daughter busy, but I just don't know how long it will hold up and the scale of the easel is just too small for her big imagination. I think it's probably worthwhile for a child in the 3 to 5 year range. My daughter will be 6 soon and I am thinking that there is probably something that will suit her better. As I write this, I am feeling more and more confident that I will inquire about returning this item....

I bought the "Paint a Zoo kit" to share with my grandkids - ages 3, 4, 5 and 7. The three younger ones wanted to jump quickly from painting to gluing -- not understanding that the paint needed to dry. (Many kids have a tendancy to glob on the paint, so drying can take quite awhile.) Possibly if I was working with just one or two children, it would have gone smoother. They did enjoy their works of art.

Poorly constructed, comes caked with dust - Pen Name -
I love the concept of this thing, but it comes caked in a white dust from the vinyl that's nearly impossible to clean out of the nooks and crannies of the inner pockets (don't know how you could see your photos otherwise.)
Also, it's poorly constructed with cheap plastic so I cannot see how it could withstand wear and tear from a child. Fortunately, I'm using it for a display.
But I am disappointed, to be sure. Especially at this price.
