The idea behind this toy is great but there are two BIG problems with it. The first is that some of the animals are unrecognizable and look like other animals (my eighteen month old keeps calling the yak a "goat"). The more significant issue with the toy is that the animals are all brightly colored with polka dots, stripes, and swirls that are not only distracting, but more importantly, are actually confusing. The bear has stripes, which makes it look exactly like a tiger, which is what my son keeps calling it. And why does a bear need stripes? It doesn't bother me that the representations are not realistic in color, as the first reviewer mentioned; it does bother me that the prints on the animals pretty much make learning much more difficult than it should be for a supposedly educational toy.
